 About Me:

Hello, I'm Naila, a qualified, dedicated secondary school teacher of mathematics with over two decades of experience in both the state and independent education sectors. Currently, I focus on teaching one to one and small group lessons both in and out of schools, where I have honed a unique ability to work patiently with students, inspiring them to excel in mathematics and achieve their potential.

I draw heavily on the research of Jo Boaler to help students become flexible, confident, and creative mathematical thinkers. Her work shows that high achievers grow the most when they are exposed to rich problems, deep thinking, and opportunities to explore multiple strategies. I use these principles to stretch learners beyond procedural methods and help them develop a mindset where challenge is welcomed and mistakes accelerate growth.

My lessons emphasise conceptual understanding, mathematical communication, and the ability to make connections across topics, all of which are essential for high-level success.

Alongside this, I integrate evidence-based techniques from the specialist training I completed with the British Dyslexia Association, which has given me a strong understanding of the many ways students process number, pattern, and visual information. These strategies — including structured explanations, visual models, and multisensory approaches — not only help students who benefit from extra clarity but also give high achievers new ways to deepen and broaden their understanding.
